Ambassador Meles confers with his Costa Rican counterpart
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Kenya, H.E. Meles Alem Tikea today (24 May 2021) received his Costa Rican counterpart, H.E. Giovanna Valverde Stark at office
During the meeting, the Ambassadors deliberated on bilateral, regional and multilateral areas of cooperation Ethiopia and Costa Rica could closely work on and agreed to further expedite the strong diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and the Central American nation.
Ambassador Meles expressed Ethiopia’s readiness and commitment to further enhance the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries. Ambassador Giovanna also reiterated Costa Rica’s interest to strengthen the strong ties with Ethiopia, especially in the areas of environmental protection and the fight against climate change. Alluding to the fact that the administration of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed is committed to the conservation of the environment under the rubric of the Green Legacy Initiative, Ambassador Meles told his Costa Rican counterpart that Ethiopia welcomes experience sharing initiatives in this regard.
Ambassador Meles also briefed Ambassador Giovanna on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the humanitarian operations and the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts of the Government of Ethiopia in Tigray region, the Ethio-Sudan border dispute and the upcoming 6th General Elections in Ethiopia.
