Eritrea Refuses to Meet a US Official
"Fed up" Eritrean officials refuse to meet up the US Chief of Mission in Eritrea.
Steven C. Walker (pictured), the Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy Asmara Eritrea wants to talk about the war-torn Tigray region in Ethiopia but Eritrean officials refuse to grant him an appointment.
The U.S. Embassy in Asmara wrote, “we regret that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refused to grant Charge Walker an appointment with HE Foreign Minister Osman or any other Ministry official.”
Eritrea has refused entry to all U.S. ambassadors since 2010, and the Embassy has been run by Chargé d'Affaires.
The last U.S. ambassador in Eritrea was Ronald K. McMullen, who was in Asmara for three years before his mission terminated.
